Summer Appeal
Summer is here and with it the launch of our first Sunday School Summer Appeal!
The Sunday Schools of Christ Church Cathedral and St. Barnabas Anglican Church in St. Lambert, Quebec are partnering to collect pennies for Apeti Pou Aprann (Appetite for Learning), a program that funds hot, nutritious lunches for school children in Haiti. Apeti Pou Aprann is an intiative of Solid’Haiti, Montreal and the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund.
Over the past few weeks, the children made penny banks to take home and to share with members of the congregation. Those who picked up a penny bank are encouraged to get to know its creator and, hopefully make a new, young friend. Come September, all the participants from both parishes will gather for a party…and a lot of penny counting.
This project really does have everything. Inter-generational engagement? Check! Partners in other parishes? Check! Relevance and relatability? Check and check! What a wonderful way to spend a summer.
